Your to-do list,
as an RPG.
TaskXP turns task completion into XP, levels, and streaks. Built for people who fall off normal productivity apps in week two — because consistency is a design problem, not a willpower problem.
Free. No account. All data stays on your device.
I built TaskXP after watching the same pattern in my other apps' usage data: people start strong, then drop off in week two. The research backs what the data showed — habits fail because the cost of doing them outweighs the immediate reward, not because of willpower. RPG mechanics close that gap. They make the small act of completing a task feel like progress on something bigger. TaskXP is what I wanted my own task list to feel like: low-friction, satisfying, and honest about what it is — a tool to make consistency easier, not a productivity religion.
What's in the app
Designed around what actually keeps people coming back, not feature checklists.
Earn XP for every task
Easy, Medium, and Hard tasks reward different XP. Difficulty is your call — the app does not second-guess what counts as work.
Level up your character
From Beginner to God Mode. Each level is a small celebration — the kind of micro-reward research shows actually moves long-term retention.
Build a daily streak
One task a day keeps the streak alive. The threshold is deliberately low — bad days should not break momentum.
Smart daily reminders
Set a daily reminder in your local timezone. Singapore, India, London — the reminder respects where you are, not where the server thinks you are.
Track your progress
Completion rate, XP history, task breakdown by difficulty, all-time best streak. The metrics that actually tell you something — not vanity numbers.
100% local. No account.
All data lives on your device. No sign-up, no cloud sync, nothing sent to any server. Your tasks are your business.
The research behind it
I wrote about the science I was reading while designing the app. These are the posts most relevant to how TaskXP works.
Common questions
Is TaskXP free?
Yes. Free on Google Play. No mandatory subscription, no paywalled core features.
Is TaskXP available on iOS?
Android only at the moment. No iOS version planned in the near term — I'm a solo developer and Android is where my user base lives.
Does TaskXP need an account?
No. Works without any account or sign-up. Your tasks and progress live on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
How is TaskXP different from a normal to-do app?
It layers RPG mechanics — XP, levels, streaks — onto task completion. The point is to make consistency feel less effortful in weeks one and two, where most habits fail.
Who built TaskXP?
NR — statistician and indie developer. It is part of the oddthree family of focused apps, alongside Breeze, Floravia, Typefast, and PomodoroXP.
Try it. It's free.
If it does not click for you in a week, delete it. No account, nothing to cancel. The whole point is to be the lowest-friction productivity tool you have ever used.
